An espresso is a drink of highly concentrated coffee. It can be served as a drink on its own as a shot. This type of coffee also used as the base of many coffee drinks such as lattes and cappuccinos. An espresso is a process of brewing coffee when high pressured hot water is forced through fine ground coffee beans.
Out of all the different type of coffees, latte is the most popular. It is also known as a caffè latte. A latte is made with 1 part coffee, 3 parts milk and then topped with foam. A mocha is the perfect type of coffee for chocolate lovers! A mocha is made with 1 part milk, 1 part coffee, 1 part foam and 1 teaspoon of drinking chocolate or syrup. It is similar to a latte - just with the addition of chocolate. It has a sweet flavour and a creamy texture.
A flat white is similar to a cappuccino - just without the foam and chocolate powder. A flat white is made with a double shot of espresso, topped with micro-foamed milk. The microfoam milk is used to create a velvety texture and bring a creamy taste to the drink. The pouring and steaming process is a key part of making a flat white correctly.
Decaf coffee was created so that people could enjoy the great taste of coffee, just without the caffeine. Normal coffee beans are used to make decaf coffee but they go through a caffeine removal process. This process can’t remove all of the caffeine from the beans - just most of it.
A macchiato is an espresso drink with a little bit of foam on top. It is sometimes referred to as a dry cappuccino. A macchiato is made with 1 shot of espresso and then topped with froth. The taste of espresso is present, but it isn’t as harsh as an espresso shot.
A Cortado is made with warm steamed milk in order to reduce the acidity of the coffee. This makes for a unique flavour that is new to coffee shops across the world. It has a strong flavour. The milk used is lightly steamed, which is different from other coffee drinks that mostly use texturised milk.
Irish coffee is a different type of coffee that includes alcohol and is popular during the Christmas period. Irish coffee is made with black coffee, whiskey, sugar and topped with whipped cream. The whiskey used must be Irish whiskey and the coffee must be strong in order to create the perfect Irish coffee.
