Pennyhill Park August 13 2014

You travel up the sweeping driveway to be met at the hotel entrance by a friendly, but formally dressed porter in morning coat. As you take in the surroundings, you see signposts for the golf course, rugby pitch, croquet lawn, tennis court, archery and clay pigeon shoot. By this time you’ve realised that this is not just another hotel. It’s Pennyhill Park Hotel & The Spa, set in 120 acres of magnificent Surrey countryside, an awesome five-star hotel, with levels of luxury, service and facilities found only in the very best hotels in the world.

Passing through the main doors, you immediately begin to feel at home amidst oak panelled walls, mullioned windows and granite floors. Spacious bedrooms are individually designed and crammed with antiques. For guests seeking ultimate tranquillity, the impressive Spa features such specialist treatments as an ozone-filtered pool, thermal cabins, ice cave, plunge pool and even an organic restaurant. Little wonder that this is the chosen base for the England rugby team when they play at Twickenham.

To be chosen to supply coffee, wherever it is served at Pennyhill Park and in hotels throughout the group, is a responsibility that Café du Monde takes very seriously. For restaurants and the Ascot bar, they offer guests a choice of cafetière service or speciality coffees prepared on a Gaggia espresso machine. Banqueting is crucial to the hotel for wedding and business meetings. Here, they have installed two large bulk filter brew systems. For room service, Café du Monde’s new, innovative ‘Service en Chambre’ has recently been introduced. These are purpose designed leather-bound display boxes housing cafetière, ground coffee and ancillaries for in-room use.
