An Ethical Coffee Company July 23 2014
Café du Monde is acutely conscious of our larger responsibilities to the Coffee Industry, in particular within coffee and tea producing countries. We have ensured that all of our products and suppliers conform to a set of ethical standards. This guarantees that all parties receive a fair deal, and a level of sustainability both economically and agriculturally is assured.
Our partnerships with the Fairtrade Foundation and Rainforest Alliance have further re-enforced our commitment to ethical practices.
Café du Monde is a licenced distributor with the Fairtrade Foundation. Set up in 1994 the FAIRTRADE mark guarantees that disadvantaged producers in the developing world are getting a better deal.
The Rainforest Alliance works to conserve biodiversity and ensure sustainable livelihoods by transforming land-use practices, business practices and consumer behaviour. We promote their coffees.
We allocate one day per year to focus upon raising money for charities, these have included the annual Macmillan Coffee Morning, a disabled childrens orphanage and school in Maralal, Kenya and the Pink Ribbon foundation for breast cancer.
Aluminium is primary among the factors that contribute to the loss of plant production on acid soils. Café du Monde is committed to aluminium free packaging and recyclable materials.
