James and Kate Mack­en­zie won the accol­ade for The Pipe and Glass Inn, a 17^th cen­tury pub in South Dalton, a vil­lage to the north of Hull.

The couple replace Mr Blu­menthal in the num­ber one spot. The tele­vi­sion chef won the award last year for The Hinds Head in Bray, Berkshire, which is also the loc­a­tion of his world-famous res­taur­ant The Fat Duck.

On Fri­day 20^th Novem­ber, 20 mem­bers of staff and their part­ners cel­eb­rated 20 years of Café du Monde.  The venue chosen for the fest­iv­it­ies was the award win­ning South Lodge Hotel, Lower Beed­ing.  From the pre din­ner drinks in the draw­ing room, where memor­ies were shared and miss­ing col­leagues remembered the whole week­end was magical.
