Leading coffee systems distributor, Café du Monde, is once again this year supporting Macmillan’s fundraising initiative, “World’s Biggest Coffee Morning” on September 25th. It is difficult to believe that this is the event’s 19th anniversary and the fifth year that Café du Monde has been involved. So far, Café du Monde and its customers have raised an impressive £40,000 in support of Macmillan Cancer Support.
Macmillan Cancer Support helps improve the lives of people affected by cancer. Over two million people in the UK are living with cancer and The World’s Biggest Coffee Morning is the charity’s largest fundraising effort of the year. Every penny raised will help fund vital cancer care services including providing essential information, expert medical care, emotional support and financial help.
As usual this year, Café du Monde will be persuading its customers to help by holding their own coffee morning on Friday, September 25th and donating the proceeds to Macmillan. Café du Monde will be giving each of its customers holding a coffee morning 100 sachets of Fairtrade coffee free to promote the event and it is hoped that the revenue from more than 4,000 coffees brewed will swell Macmillan’s coffers by over £10,000.
Café du Monde has been supported in its efforts by its customers and suppliers alike. Its coffee roaster has personalised every one of the Fairtrade coffee sachets distributed; Newby Teas is donating tea and teapots; customers themselves are offering raffle prizes including a free night’s accommodation at some top class hotels. Condé Nast Johansens, for whom Café du Monde is the preferred coffee supplier, is promoting the event through its partners and also itself donating raffle prizes.
Says Managing Director of Café du Monde, David Latchem: “Café du Monde celebrates its 20th anniversary this year and for the last five, we have supported the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning. It is such a worthy cause and every year our customers rally round in force and enter into the spirit of the occasion. I am immensely proud that they have raised a magnificent amount of money over the years and I am confident that despite the economic circumstances this year, we will break all records. I would personally like to thank our suppliers, who have helped us in so many different ways to plan the event this year.”
